On 21st May, 1997, the legendary Pakistani left-handed batsman Saeed Anwar hit his ODI career best knock 0f 194. It was an ODI match of Azadi Cup against India played at Chennai Cricket Stadium. Saeed Anwar faced 146 balls. His innings included 5 sixes and 22 fours! He got out just 6 runs short of the first ever double century in cricket history. Pakistan won this match by 34 runs. Later in 2009, Zimbabwean batsman Charles Coventry also scored 194. Both these knocks remained the highest individual ODI scores till the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored 200 not out in 2010. It is interesting to know that Sachin Tendulkar had taken the wicket of Saeed Anwar on 194. However, Saeed Anwar’s knock of 194 remained the top score for about 12 years. It is regarded as one of the finest knocks in ODI cricket.
