MS Dhoni Steps Down from ODI and T20 Captaincy

India’s most successful ODI and T20 captain, MS Dhoni steps down from ODI and T20 captaincy. The decision comes at a time when India is set to face England in a complete ODI and T20 series. BCCI made the announcement on official Twitter account followed by a complete press release.

According to the announcement, MS Dhoni has had informed BBCI that he will no longer lead Indian Cricket Team in One Day International and T20 International formats of the game.

MS Dhoni will still be available to play as a wicket-keeper batsman, however, it is now up to the selection committee if they are going to pick him for a crucial home series against England at the start of the year.

The 35-year old cricketer has contributed immensely to Indian cricket in all formats of the game. He also has successfully led his side in tests, ODIs, and T20s before stepping down.

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, India has won World T20 title in 2007 and ICC World Cup title in 2011. He also has won a Champions Trophy title for India in 2013. Dhoni has a tremendous record to his name as the captain of India’s ODI as well as T20 squads.

MS Dhoni had announced his retirement from test cricket in December 2014.

In July 2014, Forbes named MS Dhoni as one of the richest athletes.

After Dhoni stepping down as the captain of Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli will now lead the Indian team in a test, ODI as well as T20 formats of the game.
