Pakistan Beats World XI in First Match of Independence Cup 2017

Pakistan takes the lead by beating World XI is the first match of Independence Cup 2017. Two more matches are to be played in the series. The second match will be played tomorrow.

After winning the toss, World XI captain Faf du Plessis put Pakistan to bat in the first match of Independence Cup 2017. World XI got the early wicket of Fakhar Zaman (8) but the 100+ partnership between Ahmed Shehzad (39) and Babar Azam (86) really gave Pakistan the foundation to go for a huge score in the last overs. Before being dismissed, Shoaib Malik (38) hit four boundaries and two massive sixes. Imad Wasim helped Pakistan reach a target of 198 by hitting two sixes off 3 balls in the last over. Thisara Perera took two wickets.

Tamim Iqbal (18) and Hashim Amla (26) started off well for World XI but both wickets fall without converting to a big score. Tim Pane (25) and the World XI skipper Faf du Plessis (29) but the team in a stable position before wickets started falling regularly. Darren Sammy made a good resistance in the end with 29 off just 16 but there were just not enough deliveries at hand. World XI could manage 177 for the loss of 7 wickets. Sohail Khan and Shadab Khan took two wickets each.

Pakistan won the match by 20 runs.
