Thisara Perera Helps World XI win a Nail-Biting 2nd Match of Independence Cup 2017

ri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera has led World XI to a heroic last-over win in the 2nd match of Independence Cup 2017. With 13 needed in the last over, Thisara Perera hit a six on the second last delivery to give his side first win the series.

After winning the toss, Pakistan skipper Sarfarah Ahmed decided to bat first. Pakistan managed to score 174 for the loss of six wickets. Ahmed Shehzad (43) and Babar Azam (45) remained top scorers. Shoaib Malik (39) and Fakhar Zaman (21) were other two leading run scorers. Badree and Perera took two wickets each for World XI.

World XI made a solid start with Hashim Amla (71) not out and Tamim Iqbal (23). It was Thisara Perea who changed the game for World XI at a point when his team needed just under two runs a ball.

In the nail-biting last over, World XI required 13 runs. The game reached the last two balls with the guests needing 6 runs and that’s when Thisara Perera hit a massive six to give his team victory.

Winning the 2nd match of Independence Cup 2017 has put the series on a level with one match to go. Pakistan had won the first match by 20 runs at the same venue.

The final match of Independence Cup 2017 will be played on 15th September at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore.
