Shan Masood, Moeen Ali and Imran Tahir drove Multan Sultans to a thumping 52-run win over Karachi Kings in Multan.
Batting first, half-centuries from Moeen Ali and Shan Masood powered the home side to 186 on a decent batting track. In reply, Karachi Kings lost their way in the run-chase, with wickets falling at regular intervals.
Alex Hales top-scored with 29 while Umaid Asif scored a rapid 20 off 11 balls as it didn’t turn out to be an inspiring batting performance from Karachi.
Earlier, Moeen Ali struck four fours and as many sixes in his 65 off 42 balls. After providing a few chances, he was caught at point by Cameron Delport.
Shan, who decided to drop himself to No. 3 spot, hung around till the end overs. After struggling to get himself going, he provided some hefty blows towards the death overs.
Chris Jordan and Mohammad Amir pulled the game towards Karachi with some superb yorkers but the total on board was a fightable one.
In reply, Moeen Ali trapped Sharjeel Khan with a straighter ball. Babar Azam was undone by a quality short ball from Mohammad Irfan. The duo of Tahir and Afridi provided inroads in Karachi’s middle order, squeezing the life out of their run-chase.
Umaid Asif delivered a few blows in his short stay but he was caught at deep mid-wicket boundary by Ravi Bopara. Mohammad Amir was the last man to be bowled, trying to run the ball to third man, but ended up missing it by a fair distance.
