Alex Hales, Sharjeel Khan and Imad Wasim propelled Karachi Kings to an emphatic five-wicket win over Islamabad United in Rawalpindi.
With 184 to win, Karachi Kings chased down the total in 18.4 overs as Chadwick Walton struck the winning runs off Faheem Ashraf’s bowling.
Kings’ run-chase was off to a poor start when Babar Azam was found short of his ground without facing a single delivery. They were then put back on track by a quickfire 38 off 20 balls by Sharjeel Khan. He alongside Alex Hales added 58 runs for the second wicket.
Hales struck three fours and as many maximums in his 52 that was scored off 30 balls. Cameron Delport scored 38 off 28 balls before Dale Steyn got rid of him with a cross seam ball.
After Hales was deceived by a brute of ball by Ahmed Safi, Chadwick Walton 23* and skipper Imad Wasim 32* guided Kings home with eight balls left.
Earlier, Kings had opted to bowl first, trying to make use of some of the moisture in the wicket due to overnight rain. Luke Ronchi, who opened the batting for Islamabad United, remained unbeaten with 85 off 58 balls.
Ronchi added 106 runs for the unbroken partnership with Shadab, who scored 54* off 31 balls.
