James Vince’s blistering 61 off 24 balls decimated Islamabad United in a rain-curtailed contest to power Multan Sultans to play-offs of the tournament.
In a nine-over affair, Islamabad were asked to bat first as they set-up a total of 92 for the Sultans. In reply, James Vince destroyed Islamabad’s bowlers to all parts of the ground to finish off the chase in 6.4 overs.
The Hampshire batsman especially took the attack to young left-armer Akif Javed in the second over of the innings with five consecutive boundaries.
Zeeshan Ashraf, on the hand, played an anchor role before he was removed by Shadab Khan in the sixth over. Moeen Ali joined Vince on the crease before the pair got their side over the line comfortably.
Earlier, Colin Munro and Luke Ronchi played short and quick fire innings to get their side off to a decent start. The game was turned around with the introduction of Imran Tahir, who went at 6.50 and took two wickets of Colin Munro and Shadab Khan.
The middle and lower middle order of Islamabad United didn’t provide much-needed firepower to add more to their total.
