Half-centuries from Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro powered Islamabad United to a convincing eight-wicket win over Multan Sultans.
With a total of 164 on the board, Luke Ronchi (74) and Colin Munro (50) took the attack to Multan bowlers. They found the gaps on a fast Gaddafi Stadium outfield as Multan struggled to stop the run flow.
The duo scored 63 runs in the power play to set up a solid platform in their run-chase. Munro was knocked over by Shahid Afridi but Dawid Malan continued his decent run picked up in the first game against Quetta Gladiators.
Ronchi was dismissed off Ilyas’ bowling just at the point Islamabad were near the finishing line.
Earlier, opening bowlers Musa and Akif Javed denied the Multan openers of any width, making it harder for the duo to score runs.
A leg-stump half-volley got the better of skipper Masood just when the powerplay was about to end.
Moeen Ali and Rilee Rossouw were dismissed in one over by Amad Butt – who later accounted for James Vince and Sohail Tanvir. Butt returned with figures of 4 for 27 in four overs.
Zeeshan Ashraf impressed with a 29-ball half-century, including four boundaries and three sixes – giving Sultans a fighting total of 164 by the end of 20 overs.
Luke Ronchi was declared player of the match for his 74 off 45 balls.
