Recap

Azam Khan starred with the bat once again as he slammed a 30-ball 46 to set up a five-wicket win for Quetta Gladiators over Karachi Kings.

The home side had scampered to a modest total of 156-9 before fighting back in the second innings to almost clinch a win.

Karachi Kings were undone by a superb partnership between Azam and skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed with all-rounder Anwar Ali later bludgeoning the winning hit in his four-ball cameo to give the Gladiators their second win of the season.

Azam smashed four boundaries and two maximums during his stay at the crease while skipper Sarfaraz remained unbeaten on 37 off 28 balls.

Earlier, Karachi Kings weren’t off to a great start as Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam lost their wickets inside the powerplay.

Alex Hales chipped in with a 27-ball 29 but he couldn’t really kick on to get a big score.

Iftikhar Ahmed delivered few blows towards the end of the innings with an 18-ball 25, including two fours and one maximum.

Mohammad Hasnain was the standout bowler, picking up three wickets in his four overs, whereas Tymal Mills snaffled two – including the prized one of Babar Azam.
