Pakistan wins ICC Champions Trophy for the first time. The final match was played against traditional rivals India at The Oval Cricket Stadium in London.
The Pakistan cricket team has finally managed to win the ICC Champions trophy by beating India in the much anticipated final. This was the first time Pakistan reached the final of an ICC Champions Trophy while India came this far for the fourth time.
After winning the toss, Virat Kholi put Pakistan to bat first on a pitch that was being considered batting friendly. Pakistani openers Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali put a 128-run partnership to give its team the start they were looking for. A misunderstanding between the pair led to Azhar Ali being run out on 59. Fakhar Zaman continued his knock and struck his first ever ODI century. He was dismissed on 114. Babar Azam (46) and Mohammad Hafeez (57) helped Pakistan reach 338 before they run out of the overs.
Mohammad Amir started with the huge wicket of Rohit Sharma in his first over followed by India skipper Virat Kohli. In his third over, he caught behind Shikhar Dhawan in the hands of skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav couldn’t even get to the double figures and were dismissed by Hassan Ali and
this was a wonderful match.
