Ahead of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Pakistan’s all-format skipper Babar Azam has joined Peshawar Zalmi, the team announced on Friday.

The prolific right-hander is the all-time leading scorer in the PSL with 2,413 runs scored in 68 games.

Sources claim that the Kings have transferred Babar to Peshawar Zalmi in exchange for veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik.

During the previous season, the Kings, led by Azam, became the first team in PSL history to lose nine matches in a single season.

According to Geo News, Azam was traded by Kings to Peshawar Zalmi in exchange for veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik.

Babar played for Islamabad United in the inaugural season of the Pakistan Super League. Babar was transferred to Kings prior to the PSL 2017 player draught. He has captained the Kings in six PSL seasons since then.

The tournament will start from February 9 to March 19 next year and will be played at four venues — Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will reveal all franchise retentions later today at 8:30 PM
