Ahmed Shahzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq and Umar Akmal got out without making a big impact. Then came Boom Boom Afridi who had missed the ICC Champions Trophy. He along with the skipper Misbah ul Haq made a 100+ partnership. Shahid Afridi played a speedy knock of 76. His innings included 6 fours and 5 huge sixes. Misbah ul Haq made a half century too. The Pakistani tail enders also contribute to take the score to 224 for the loss of 9 wickets.
West Indians start was very disappointing. Mohammad Irfan removed two key batsmen to build early pressure. Misbah ul Haq soon brought in Shahid Afridi and his decision remained successful. Afridi took wicket after wicket including a hat-trick change. He took 7 wickets for just 12 runs. This is now the best bowling figure by any Pakistani bowler against West Indies.
